Lau Gar Kung Fu
Lau Gar Ireland was founded in 1977 when Master Yau sent a team of black sash instructors to Ireland to put on demonstrations in four towns - Wexford, Waterford, Kilkenny & Dublin and opened the first four Lau Gar clubs in Ireland. The purpose of the association is to teach martial arts in a progressive manner, which will teach self-discipline and self-confidence and lead to increased physical fitness and good health.
Since its formation the association has attracted participants from all walks of life, young, old, male and female. As well as Lau Gar Kung Fu we have a full syllabus of kickboxing and geiwaishu (self defence) The association is affiliated to the Irish Martial Arts Commission (I.M.A.C.) , Amateur Kickboxing Association of Ireland (A.K.A.I.), & Lau Gar International.
We offer our students the chance to compete at local, national and international level in all disciplines of sports kickboxing. The association has produced many national, international and world champions over the years.

Chief Instructor Bobby O'Neill, started training in the very first class held in Ireland back in 1977. Since then Bobby has represented Ireland for over ten years on the national kickboxing team winning numerous international titles including two World kickboxing titles. (W.A.K.O. & I.A.K.S.A.) Bobby was appointed Chief Instructor of the association by Master Yau in 1989 when the previous chief instructor, Denis Davis returned home to Birmingham. The associations headquarters is located at Image Health Studios, Patricks Square, Wexford where Bobby and his senior instructors offer classes in all aspects of the Lau Gar system. The centre is also the location for regular Lau Gar Seminars and international guest instructor courses as well as the much appreciated regular visits by Master Jeremy Yau. |
